| Our founding Director, Tony has been threatening to retire at Christmas for some time and has finally decided to take the plunge (not before time, you might well say...). We will not get rid of him completely though as he will be staying on part-time to clean the loos, make the coffee and re-arrange the furniture every now and then.
Tony set up Realife in 1996 as an action research project to find out how to run an organisation that combined independent Social Work with community development.
The work of Realife will go on, focusing on local development work with a particular interest in supporting small scale, local initiatives. Tony will continue to lead the Social Work Student Unit from October to June each academic year and contribute to the smooth running of the Inclusion Partnership - our sister not-for-profit membership umbrella agency - representing Realife at Board level.
Following a move back up to Cambridge (site of original experiments with social enterprises from 1986 including Rowan, Snake Hall Farm and Fulbourn Enterprise Centre), Tony is doing the proper retirement bit on Mondays and Fridays and continuing to be office based at Realife for the rest of the week. |
