| This years handbook has been re-written by the 2008-09 student unit members, co-ordinated by Laura Spenceley of Havering College. It provides a student-eye view of everything you might need to know to make the sometimes tricky adjustment to live in the voluntary sector if you have only ever experienced the local authority version of social work.
Realife is a community development agency and some students have said that they find it a bit challenging to work in a relatively unstructured way, often without formal referral procedures or eligibility criteria. The handbook helps to introduce much needed structure into the crucial first few weeks of the placement.
